How do I order?
Simply choose the cake you’d like, then select your preferred size and flavour before proceeding to checkout, where you can choose your collection date and time. On the product page, you’ll find a notes box where you can let us know any specific details you’d like added to the cake, such as a name, age, or short message. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with all the details.
Where do I collect my cake?
All cakes are collected from our boutique cake studio in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. Our address is 37–39 Knutsford Road, Alderley Edge SK9 7SH, and there is plentiful onsite parking available for easy collection. All cakes are carefully boxed for safe transport, and we are happy to assist you in placing the cake securely in your car if required.
How much notice do you require?
For existing cake designs shown on our website, we require a minimum of 7 days’ notice. For wedding and bespoke cakes, a minimum of 10 days’ notice is required. Available collection dates are shown at checkout and are updated regularly. If a date is selectable, it means we’re able to accept orders for that day.
Can you recreate a cake design I’ve seen elsewhere?
Yes — we regularly recreate designs based on inspiration images provided by our customers. If you have a specific cake in mind, simply submit your enquiry via our Bespoke Cakes page and attach your reference images. We will review the design and confirm availability, pricing, and any minor adjustments required. As each cake is individually handcrafted, slight variations may occur, but we always aim to stay as true as possible to your chosen design.
Can you accept an order if we miss the cut off?
If you’re looking to order at short notice, you’re welcome to contact the Cake Studio on 07778 797588 and we’ll always advise honestly on availability. Please note that this may not always be possible, particularly at weekends or during busy periods, as we do get fully booked. Where availability allows, we’ll do our best to help.

What is the best way to cut & serve your cakes?
A Cake Cutting guide is provided on each product page, with clear guidance on how best to cut and serve your cake for neat portions and an enjoyable finish.
Where can I find information about allergens?
At Sweet Story, we take allergens seriously. Some of the ingredients used in our cakes may cause allergic reactions, and in line with Food Standards Agency (FSA) guidance, we can provide information on the 14 recognised allergens upon request. Our cakes may contain gluten (present in our flours), eggs, milk (including butter, cream and cream cheese), soya (in chocolate), and a variety of nuts including almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, pecans, pistachios and cashews. Please note that all cakes are made in a kitchen that handles allergens, so we cannot guarantee that our products are completely free from traces. If you have a severe allergy or any concerns, we recommend contacting us before placing your order so we can advise you appropriately
Do you offer gluten-free cakes?
We do offer gluten-free cakes. If you require a gluten-free option, please place your order as usual and then contact us so we can discuss your requirements. Please note that all cakes are made in a kitchen that handles gluten and other allergens, and we cannot guarantee a completely gluten-free environment.
Do you offer vegan cakes?
At present, we do not offer vegan cakes.
What is the shelf life of your cakes?
Our cakes are best enjoyed within 3 days of collection. Once cut, any remaining cake should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. If you’d like to keep your cake for longer, leftover portions can be cut into individual slices, wrapped securely in cling film, and frozen in an airtight container. When ready to enjoy, allow the cake to defrost naturally at room temperature.
What if I need to cancel my order?
Please refer to our Cancellation & Refunds policy, available in the Cusomter Care section of our website, for full details.
